walking

Rebecca Solnit advises that democracy should be exercised regularly, on foot.” The exercise of democracy begins as exercise, as walking around, becoming familiar with the streets, comfortable with strangers, able to imagine your own body as powerful and expressive rather than a pawn. People who are at home in their civic space preserve the power to protest and revolt, whereas those who have been sequestered into private space do not.”
Walking institutes the relation with space that makes it a place. Narrating the space we reappropriate its history against efforts to control it.

building ephemera

The world is full of structures, infrastructures etc. We do not to end more of it. It is already enough. We wish to change disposition, we wish to envisage different uses and functions of what is already there, to animate counter-hegemonic dispositions of the infrastructure already set in place
